Resident Medical Officer (Registrar – Critical Care)
Registrar – Critical Care | Timaru Hospital
We are seeking a motivated and capable Registrars to join our supportive Critical Care team at Timaru Hospital, located in the heart of South Canterbury.Timaru offers a unique opportunity to develop your clinical skills in a hands-on environment, with excellent consultant support, a strong teaching culture, and meaningful clinical responsibility from day one.
About the Role
As a Registrar, you will work closely with experienced consultants and be exposed to a wide range of acute and critical care presentations.This role offers:
- Direct mentorship from senior clinicians
- Increased autonomy with appropriate support
- Exposure to diverse and complex clinical cases
- Dedicated exposure to Anaesthetics, working alongside Anaesthetists in theatre
- Opportunities to actively participate in clinical decision-making and service delivery
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality clinical care within Critical Care services
- Work collaboratively with Consultants and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in theatre sessions alongside Anaesthetists
- Contribute to weekly teaching and ongoing education sessions
- Engage in clinical meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement activities

- Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and patient-centred care approach
- Confidence to take on clinical responsibility with appropriate support
