Registered Nurse with Neonatal Experience - Educator for Clinical Services (Internal Role restricted to HNZ employees)

About the Role 

The role reports to the Midwife Manager for Maternity Services and is based in the Maternity Unit at Timaru Hospital. This fixed-term opportunity will focus on educating and supporting our team of midwives and nurses to enhance their neonatal care skills. 

About you

As an experienced Neonatal Registered Nurse, you'll demonstrate strong capability as a preceptor, mentor, educator, or clinical coach. Working within the RN scope of practice, standards of competence, and code of conduct, you will deliver a targeted education programme to strengthen the maternity workforce, particularly in neonatal resuscitation, stabilisation and transitional care. Your role will include working alongside both individuals and groups to prepare and deliver education in various forms as the service needs. This might be in the form of one to one teaching, workshops, study days or simulation.  We need an experienced practitioner who will lead by example to maintain high standards of care, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive and supportive working environment. 

You'll need to:

  • Be an experienced Neonatal Nurse
  • Have a current New Zealand Registered Nurse APC 
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand
  • Experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
