  • 25 hours per week on a rotating 3-week roster

About the Role 

Jean Todd Maternity Service is based within Timaru Hospital and provides care to women in South Canterbury averaging around 550 births per year, ranging from normal and low risk to complex and high needs. 

The Health Care Assistant role works alongside the midwifery team and supports day to day care and takes an active part in the hearing screening of newborns, this includes arranging appointments and follow ups.

About you

We’re looking for a Health Care Assistant with a good amount of experience in a similar role (HCA and or Hearing Screener) and someone who adopts a friendly and positive approach to their work is organised and can work in a culturally sensitive manner.

Additionally, you will need:

  • Well-developed communication skills to enhance our expectant mothers’ experiences while they are under our care along with delivery of culturally sensitive care
  • Unfailingly maintains confidentiality in all respects
  • Committed to delivering safe quality care and client centred services.
  • Displays sound sensitivity (both cultural & empathy) toward others

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the Nursing Collective, and the Pay Scale, determined on relevant experience.
