- Permanent | Part-time 0.65 FTE (Mon – Fri, 07.30-13.00)

About the Role
As the Ward Administrator within the Medical
Service, you will provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth
day-to-day operation of the department. Working closely with clinical and
administrative teams, you will manage patient administration processes,
coordinate referrals and waitlists, support admission and discharge activities,
maintain department supplies, and deliver high-quality customer service.
The role plays a key part in supporting efficient
patient flow and achieving Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury booking standards and targets
under the guidance of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
About You
We are looking for an organised and proactive
administrator with strong office administration and Microsoft Office skills,
excellent communication abilities, and a high level of accuracy and attention
to detail. You will be able to work effectively in a busy environment,
prioritise tasks, maintain confidentiality, and build positive relationships
with patients, staff, and the wider community.
Experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of
patient information systems would be an advantage. Most importantly, you will
be a reliable team player who demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and a
commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and quality patient care.
It is essential that you have the following:
- Sound experience in office administration
- Competent Microsoft office skills – Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Excel
- Accurate data entry
- Effective written/oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with diverse range of public and staff.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Effective planning and prioritisation skills

Salary
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA Clerical Collective and the Pay Scale, determined on relevant experience.
