Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?

Right now, we’re looking for an experienced health professional confident in their practice to work under the direction of a Registered Healthcare Professional and be part of a team supporting the vision of a Smokefree Aotearoa 2025.

Day to day you will be supporting individuals, their families and whanau gaining freedom from smoking.  As well as supporting the general team, this role is focused on working with Māori, youth, pregnant mothers and with mental health patients wanting to quit smoking.

Therefore, a background in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social work, or Cessation Services would be a strong advantage. This is your opportunity to start making a difference.

Interested applicants with the following experience should apply for this role;

  • Healthcare experience/qualification  such as a background in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Cessation Services
  • Experience working with a diverse range of groups and individuals
  • Success in motivating people to change

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships to help increase the overall uptake to the smokefree program. As part of this national initiative we would expect you are also Smokefree.

Why choose South Canterbury DHB?

As one of the country’s smaller DHBs our people always have room to move and grow - you’ll get a wider exposure to specialties and enjoy the benefits of a flat structure: processes that run smoothly and a fun, friendly culture. With us, you’re more than just a number; you’re part of a team where everyone knows your name.

On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, work-life balance is truly achievable here.

At SCDHB, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we can’t wait for you to join us.
