grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving
all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a

About the Role
Right now, we’re looking for a Core Midwife to join the Maternity team
at the Jean Todd Maternity unit. Providing midwifery care to women in South
Canterbury, the unit sees around 500 births per year, ranging from normal and
low-risk to complex and high-needs.
The unit was recently refurbished and is now a modern purpose-built
space for mothers, babies and whanau and for the staff that work in the
unit.
The Day Assessment Unit midwife role is varied, and exciting and its
purpose is to provide care for women with conditions that require additional
monitoring and treatment, as well as providing midwifery care for those who
cannot access an LMC in the community and may involve both hospital and
community visits. Other additional duties upon direction includes working on
the ward when it is busy and time in theatre with elective caesareans.
The role is well well-supported by all staff who value a collaborative
team-based approach working closely to make sure our mothers and babies get the
best outcomes, and that our work environment is the best you could wish for.
