About the Role

The Crisis Team provides 24-hour assessment, treatment and support for people experiencing serious mental health issues.  The team comprises of Registered Nurses and Medical professionals who are supported by a strong and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Abou You

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic health care professional to join our crisis resolution team. In this role you will:

  • Provide timely mental health assessments, crisis interventions and short-term intensive treatment
  • Work collaboratively with service users, whānau/families, and partner agencies to ensure safe and effective care
  • Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment where no two days are the same

As a professional and highly motivated Registered Health Professional who displays a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work, you will enjoy being part of a committed and diverse multidisciplinary team.  You will work in collaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the importance of providing quality care and services to their clients, friends and whānau. Working within a multidisciplinary team, and in collaboration with our clients and their whānau, primary care, community supports and our inpatient teams, your ability to think on your feet, triage and priorities your patients appropriately in a timely manner is essential.

To be successful in this role, the following is required:

  • Health Care Professional with current APC and mental health scope
  • Experience in mental health settings preferred (ideally in crisis or acute areas). However, support and education will be provided for the right candidate
  • Skilled in risk assessment, crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Able to remain calm, compassionate and solution focused under pressure
  • A strong communicator who thrives in a team but can also work autonomously
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • Ideally you will be a Duty Authorised Officer (DOA) who has been trained and signed off as being able to facilitate the Mental Health Act. If not currently a DAO, applicants for this position will be required to undertake this training
  • Have a full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
