Health New Zealand South Canterbury - is responsible for the delivery of services throughout the South Canterbury region and Timaru Hospital (124 beds) serves a district population of approximately 60,000 based in a General Hospital Facility, providing our local community with such critical 24/7 services as Emergency Care, Critical Care Unit, General, Orthopaedic, & ENT Surgery, O&G, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Oncology & Palliative Care, plus of course Internal Medicine.

Registrars at Timaru Hospital gain broad clinical exposure (you won’t be “one of many”) and are offered close, approachable consultant support with genuine teaching investment. 

About You

This role is open to a Registrar with well-developed general clinical skills and sound clinical judgement, and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centred care, be confident in assuming clinical responsibility with appropriate support, and show a clear commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.

  • You will need to be eligible for General Registration with the medical council of New Zealand and have completed PGY 2 and above years for this role.
