About the Role

Right now, we are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the Allied Health team at Timaru hospital. This team includes Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Orthotics Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Radiology, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Work, Orthotics, Clinical Psychology and Audiology. 

About the Service

This role is supported by the clinical leader for Occupational Therapy and works with a supportive multi-disciplinary team to provide Occupational Therapy assessments and a variety of interventions in order to promote patient independence. This is a generalist role that works across the service.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor of Health Science
  • A Current Practising Certificate
  • Excellent Interpersonal/Communication Skills
    (including assertiveness, diplomacy, and sensitivity)
  • Enable NZ Assessor Accreditation

Both new graduates and experienced OTs are welcome to apply.

About you

The person in this role will provide appropriate and evidence-based assessment and interventions for adults and children in the inpatient medical setting, working across all wards.  If you strive to achieve the maximum potential for your patients, then this role is for you.

As a registered Occupational Therapist the ideal candidate will have;

  • A current New Zealand Practicing Certificate
  • Be able to plan and work autonomously.
  • Be able to work as part of the Occupational Therapy team, and multidisciplinary setting of a ward environment.
