Non Training Surgical Registrar

Non Training - Surgical Registrar

Surgical Services – Timaru Hospital

12 Month Fixed Term, Full Time – starting 2024

Looking for that elusive Registrar role where you won’t be competing with all of the other Registrars on your team for access to the best cases or Consultants to work with?

If you will be a 3rd Year House Officer or are a Surgical Registrar with wide clinical interests who is genuinely seeking a career in General Surgery and a role that will broaden your clinical exposure then Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury / Timaru Hospital could well be the ideal place for you.

We have a genuinely rare chance for a Surgical Registrar to join our team of Surgeons who are keen to teach, (despite the fact this is not recognised as a formal training post).

While this role is Full Time, there is real scope to create the personal time to commit to other interests as our afterhours expectations are not overwhelming.

Professionally speaking we are looking for a Surgical Registrar seeking to extend themselves. You would be working in a facility with CT/MRI on site, in  an informal (almost extended family) atmosphere, alongside of colleagues who will be on your back to participate in outdoor pursuits, just in case you require challenges outside of the work environment.

Sound like your sort of team and work/lifestyle environment?

You already know what a Surgical Registrar does, so why choose Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury?

As one of the country’s smaller Districts our people always have room to move and grow - you’ll get a wider exposure to specialties and enjoy the benefits of a flat structure: processes that run smoothly and a fun, friendly culture. With us, you’re more than just a number; you’re part of a team where everyone knows your name. You’ll be supported to thrive through our many professional development opportunities.

On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, work-life balance is truly achievable here.

At Timaru Hospital, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we can’t wait for you to join us.
