Critical Care Registrar – Timaru Hospital
Non-Training – Critical Care Registrar – Te Whatu Ora – South Canterbury, Timaru Hospital
12 Month Fixed Term, Full Time
Looking for that elusive Registrar role where you won’t be competing with all of the other Registrars on your team for access to the best cases or Consultants to work with?
If you will be a 3rd Year House Officer or are a Registrar with wide clinical interests who is genuinely seeking a career in Critical Care and a role that will broaden your clinical exposure, then Te Whatu Ora – South Canterbury / Timaru Hospital could be the ideal place for you.
We have a genuinely rare chance for Critical Care Registrars to join our team of Senior Doctors who are keen to teach, (despite the fact this is not recognised as a formal training post). Work will be across the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department, General Medicine, General Surgery, Maternity and Paediatrics.
Professionally speaking we are looking for Critical Care Registrars seeking to extend themselves. You would be working in a facility with CT/MRI on site, in an informal (almost extended family) atmosphere.
As one of the country’s smaller Districts our people always have room to move and grow - you’ll get a wider exposure to specialties and enjoy the benefits of a flat structure: processes that run smoothly and a fun, friendly culture. With us, you’re more than just a number; you are part of a team where everyone knows your name. You’ll be supported to thrive through our many professional development opportunities.
On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, work-life balance is truly achievable here.
At Te Whatu Ora – South Canterbury, integrity, collaboration,
accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We
are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce
achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in
these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we
can’t wait for you to join us.

Applications will be accepted until suitable applicants are found.
Please be aware, if you are an overseas candidate, that as of November 2017 the Medical Council of New Zealand (Council) introduced a new method of primary source verification using the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (ECFMG’s EPIC) service. Being certified through EPIC is now compulsory and we therefore recommend that applicants have registered their professional credentials with EPIC.
Please visit the NZMC website for more details about these changes and the other requirements needed to be met toward gaining NZ Registration.
