The Jean Todd Maternity Service provides primary and secondary care to women in South Canterbury with approximately 600 births ranging from normal and low-risk to complex and high needs.

Right now, we’re looking for a Midwife – Clinical Coach to work in a supernumery capacity providing clinical education in the workplace and supporting the midwifery education programme.

Reporting to the Midwife Manager Maternity the role works work collaboratively with colleagues, including new graduates, new staff and is responsible for promoting a learning environment within the clinical setting that encourages and supports midwife development of clinical skills and knowledge.

The PMMR role leads the review of selected clinical cases with a multidisciplinary team to ensue ongoing learning and development of clinicians in the maternity service.

Skills for success in this role includes;

  • NZ Fully Qualified Registered Midwife with a current APC and recent clinical leadership experience
  • Role Model for contemporary clinical practice and woman centred care
  • Understanding of Tikanga Maori
  • Knowledge and compliance with legislative and best practice requirements
  • Responsible for promoting a learning environment
  • Working towards or has completed the Quality Leadership Programme
