Medical Imaging Technologist
Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT)
Radiology - Timaru Hospital, SCDHB
Multiple Employment Options can be accommodated, including Permanent or Fixed-term Placement, along with a range of Part-time hours.
Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?
Right now, we’re looking for the right Medical Imaging Technologist to join our small, tight-knit Radiology Team. This is a great opportunity for any Technologist looking to enhance their CT and X-Ray experience in an environment that provides comprehensive diagnostic radiology services.
With multiple options possible (commencing anywhere between February and July 2022), the role can be tailor made from a range of hours between 16 and 32 per week, so this is your opportunity to target a position in our team best suited to your personal needs and professional interests. Whether you’re a registered new graduate, an experienced practitioner looking to return to the workforce, or looking to enhance and expand your existing skills in a collaborative team focused environment, we definitely want to hear from you!
Our team provides a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service including general radiography, MRI, CT and Ultrasound. Our ideal candidate will already be registered with the NZMRT Board and hold a current APC (but for the right person we may well consider an overseas applicant).
In addition to your positive attitude and great sense of humour, in joining our team you will bring:
- sound knowledge of diagnostic radiography (particularly where you have a preference for gaining CT experience)
- great communication skills combined with an empathetic nature
- excellent planning and problem-solving approaches
- a passion for delivering patient focused high-quality healthcare
- flexibility to work within a Monday-Sunday rotating 24-hour roster incorporating some level of On Call.
Why not work with us to identify the opportunity to join our team on a basis that best suits you, (simply by outlining in your cover letter what contract type and how many hours you would like to be considered for).
Why choose South Canterbury DHB?

With us, you’re more than just a number; you’re part of a team where everyone knows your name.
On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, work-life balance is truly achievable here.
At SCDHB, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we can’t wait for you to join us.
