Covid Swabbing Tester

‘Every moment matters’ is not only our vision; it is our commitment to enhance the health and independence of the people of South Canterbury.

This ethos has become even more applicable in these uncertain Covid affected times, so this is an opportunity for enthusiastic motivated individuals to lend their expertise to our collective fight against the potential spread of Covid in our community.

We often do things differently at SCDHB, and we are continuing that approach by establishing teams of three Testers, to then be rotated through a number of community clinic and workplace settings.

As such here is your chance to make a real contribution.

Weekly hours in this role may typically cover any of the following scheduled clinics (inclusive of ½ hour setup and pack down times at the start and end of each session):

  • Every second Monday 1700-1900
  • Tuesday 0830-1230
  • Thursday 1300-1700

Obviously, considerable flexibility in timing and even the days of the week on which these testing clinics take place may well fluctuate, based on variables such as the current alert level, national and local Screening target requirements, the presence or otherwise of community transmission, workplace testing and Border Controls (such as at The Port of Timaru).

You will work in rotational roles alongside two other members of the Testing Clinic Team. You may therefore be working in an administrative capacity, to accurately record patient details, specimens and laboratory form labelling, communication of test results and general administrative and clinic reception duties, as well as the role of  undertaking swab testing of individuals attending the clinic, while ensuring the security of samples and data collation.

Full training will be provided (including swabbing technique, sample collection & preservation, Computer system data entry, safe Personal Protective Equipment usage to name a few key elements).

While the role does not require you to be a Health Professional, we would prefer candidates who have some level of prior Health Sector experience to draw from ideally.

We look forward to receiving your application but should you have any questions regarding this role please contact Human Resources by phoning 03 687-2230.
