Core Midwife for Day Assessment Unit

Jean Todd Maternity Ward – Timaru Hospital

Permanent, Part Time, 0.8 FTE

Monday to Friday between the hours of 0700 – 1700

Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?

Right now, we’re looking for a Core Midwife to join the Maternity team at the Jean Todd Maternity unit. Providing midwifery care to women in South Canterbury, the unit sees around 600 births per year, ranging from normal and low-risk to complex and high-needs.

The unit was recently refurbished and is now a modern purpose-built space for mothers, babies and whanau and for the staff that work in the unit.

The Day Assessment Unit midwife role is varied and exciting and its purpose is to provide care for women with conditions that require additional monitoring, infusions, as well as providing midwifery care for those who cannot access an LMC in the community. Other additional duties upon direction includes working on the ward when it is busy and time in theatre with elective caesareans.

This is primarily a weekday only role for approx. 6-8 hours a day, but there will be an expectation you have some flexibility in terms of days, start and end hours to ensure practice across the full scope.

The role is well well-supported by all staff who value a collaborative team-based approach working closely to make sure our mothers and babies get the best outcomes, and that our work environment is the best you could wish for.

Why Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury?
