About the Role
We are seeking expressions of interest from generalist Orthopaedic Surgeons who may be interested in future roles with Timaru Hospital.
The team of five surgeons actively
service the 131-bed hospital and are supported by 3 Registrars (1 training) who
take the first call during normal business hours and some weekends.
The department is supported by an interdisciplinary team approach, including physiotherapy services, with parallel clinics and in house hand therapy. A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) supports case management across the service, undertaking orthopaedic nurse led clinics, arthroplasty monitoring and complex casting support. Elective list management and acute case scheduling is also managed by the CNS Orthopaedics.
About You
This is a generalist position and the person in the role will be required to undertake upper and lower limb procedures, general orthopaedic trauma and have the ability to undertake hip and knee arthroplasty. The work environments include theatre and out-patient clinics.
The position FTE is open to discussion and works during the normal hours of work between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday; and there are on call duties.
The after-hours roster frequency is approximately 1:5-1:6, to provide cover outside of the normal business hours of work, at weekends and on Public Holidays.
