Clinical Pharmacist(s) Timaru Hospital, Newly Qualified Welcome
Pharmacy Department - Timaru Hospital
Permanent, Full time, 80 hours per fortnight
Monday to Friday, Office Hours, (+ On Call Component)
Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?
Right now, we’re looking for a Pharmacist with experience and open to candidates who've recently completed their internship to join the team at Timaru Hospital.
Here at Timaru Hospital our Pharmacists do much more than dispense medicines. In fact, as an integral member of a broad multi-disciplinary clinical service team, you’ll enjoy active clinical involvement.
Our Pharmacy team is involved in the provision of clinical pharmacy services, medicines reconciliation, medicines information, patient counselling, on call services and inpatient and outpatient dispensing and you will become an integral member of the clinical pharmacy team.
The role also requires a high standard of pharmacy practice to oversee pharmacy operational duties including medication stock management, dispensing, non-sterile compounding, general dispensary and administrative duties.
You will be self-motivated, accountable, efficient, accurate and meticulous, a team player with excellent communication skills. Ideally you will have sound experience in a community or hospital pharmacy.
Hospital experience would be an advantage but it is not essential as training would be provided. We are eager to develop a closer connection with community pharmacies and therefore having a community background would also be considered of value.
If you have excellent time management, planning, and organisational skills as well as having good communication skills, are a quick learner and be able to perform in an accurate and precise manner, then we look forward to your application.
The successful applicant will be a New Zealand Registered Pharmacist, competent with dispensing systems along and familiar with using the Microsoft Office suite.

Voluntary Bonding Scheme (for Pharmacists)
The Voluntary Bonding Scheme (the Scheme) is a practical initiative now run by Te Whatu Ora — Health New Zealand, and formerly run by the Ministry of Health.
It aims to encourage newly qualified health professionals to work in the communities and specialties that need them most, and to retain essential health professionals in Aotearoa New Zealand. It also aims to increase representation of Māori and Pacific peoples within the health workforce.
The Scheme is targeted to new or recent graduates in eligible professions who are starting their career, with the aim of incentivising them to work in eligible hard-to-staff communities or specialties. Those accepted to the Scheme can become eligible for payments in the first three-to-five years of their career, to help repay their student loan or as top-up income.
South Canterbury is an eligible community for the Scheme, and we would encourage you to learn more and register by visiting this website: The Voluntary Bonding Scheme – Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand
