As part of a CNS team, you will be working collaboratively with multidisciplinary health professionals to provide your expertise the persistent pain portfolio. The persistent pain portfolio will include individualised, coordinated, persistent pain and symptom management.


As a CNS at South Canterbury District Health Board, your key focuses include complex case management, evidence-based quality service improvement, education and staff development.


Clinical aspects of this role will include assessment of complex patients experiencing chronic or persistent pain, and suggest appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions and ongoing care planning and wellbeing management. This includes working alongside specialists, allied health and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient focused care within the care setting. 


This role works closely with well established and experienced CNS colleagues who will provide mentoring and support to the future incumbent as required.


Key Requirements Include:

·  Nursing Council of NZ registration, and current APC

·  A relevant postgraduate qualification (NZQA Level 8) – or be willing to work towards this qualification

·  Significant relevant clinical experience and proven critical thinking ability

·  Be able to work collaboratively with health professionals and as an autonomous practitioner. 

·  Excellent clinical assessment skills

·  Current New Zealand Divers License
