About the Role
The CNS Oncology provides person-centered care to
patients receiving treatment and active surveillance under the oncology
service; and support to other health professionals caring for people with
cancer across the spectrum, commencing at the point of diagnosis, right through
the treatment continuum to survivorship, or transition into palliative care
services.
This advanced practice
nursing role provides leadership, knowledge and skills within three spheres:
- Individual case management
- Collaborative support to other health professionals in the management of oncology patients
- Participation in the
development of cancer services locally, regionally and nationally
About You
This is a senior role, and the successful applicant will demonstrate leadership in service developments, quality projects, by applying scholarly knowledge and applied practice with a continued focus to improve health outcomes. Other key requirements include;
- Current knowledge of evidence based national and regional standards, guidelines and protocols in cancer treatments.
- Advanced assessment skills and interpretation of clinical findings in patients undergoing cancer treatments, symptoms of oncologic emergencies and survivorship concerns
- It is essential that the applicant is a Registered Nurse with a Current APC and has undergone (or prepared to commence) relevant postgraduate study towards, or currently hold, a post graduate diploma or higher.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients/hāura and family/ whānau along with other health professionals.
- NZ Drivers Licence (current and clean)
