Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?

A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position in the special role of Gynaecology has become available to join our existing team.  You’ll enjoy the challenge of a specialised role where there is never a dull moment or a day that looks like another!

You will be working across South Canterbury, in primary and secondary care settings, contributing your clinical expertise in the area of continence. You will handle complex case reviews, adding your expertise in Gynaecology care to the service. You will be the “go-to person” for this area of expertise.

As such, you will also be involved with initiating and or participating in evidence-based service improvements, quality enhancement, policy development, and building of staff capability.

You will also be working closely with the surgical services hub multidisciplinary team to implement a contemporary model of care. Therefore, communication and relationship-building skills are a must.

Role Requirements include:

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of NZ and a current APC
  • Relevant postgraduate level 8 qualification (or be working towards within 12 months of appointment) will be an advantage
  • Significant level of relevant clinical experience
  • Proven expert clinical assessment skills
  • Functions as an autonomous practitioner

We are open to nurses with little experience in Gynaecology but are interested and willing to be trained up or ‘up-skilled’ to be able to perform this role. We are looking for someone motivated to join, as there will be a lot of self-study and self-learning involved along with performing clinical duties.

Why choose South Canterbury DHB?

As one of the country’s smaller DHBs our people always have room to move and grow - you’ll get a wider exposure to specialties and enjoy the benefits of a flat structure: processes that run smoothly and a fun, friendly culture. With us, you’re more than just a number; you’re part of a team where everyone knows your name.

On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, work-life balance is truly achievable here.

At SCDHB, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we can’t wait for you to join us.
