About the Role

Right now, we are looking for a Trainee Sterile Sciences Technician to join our Central Sterilising Unit (CSU) Team.

The CSU plays a vital role in patient care by ensuring medical instruments and equipment are collected, decontaminated, inspected, assembled, packed, sterilised, and distributed safely and efficiently throughout the hospital.

This role involves regular manual handling activities, prolonged periods of standing and walking, and the movement of equipment and supplies. Applicants should be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the role while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail in a busy healthcare environment.

We are looking for a reliable and adaptable team member who demonstrates our ICARE values and is willing to work rostered and rotating shifts. Previous experience in sterile services is desirable but not essential, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, including support to undertake a qualification in sterilising technology.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a Sterilising Services Unit or a similar healthcare environment (preferred but not essential).
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain high standards of work in a busy environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and patient safety.
  • The ability to handle delicate and specialised medical equipment with care.
  • Flexibility to work a range of rostered shifts and undertake varying duties as required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • A positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Able to safely undertake the physical requirements of the role, including manual handling tasks, prolonged standing, and the movement of equipment and supplies
