Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?

Right now, we’re looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to work in our Monitored Care Unit (MCU) based in the surgical ward.  Your extensive post-graduate nursing experience will be essential for taking responsibility for the complex care of both medical, surgical and maternity patients. Part of this role also includes the expectation that you will be involved in the care of patients on the Surgical Ward, as required.

In this position, you will have the chance to build on your existing experience in acute nursing and work with a supportive and committed multidisciplinary team. Working closely with other departments in the hospital means you will have the opportunity to advance your nursing skills and knowledge.  You will be expected to use and develop assessment skills to an advanced level and to deliver the highest standards of patient care.

To join our supportive team, you will need to be motivated with a mature attitude and organised approach. You will be flexible, adaptable, and have the ability to work under pressure in this fast-paced environment. You will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Applicants must be registered with the New Zealand Nursing Council and have a current Annual Practising Certificate.

Applicants must have a valid work visa for the period of the fixed term or be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.

Why choose South Canterbury DHB?

As one of the country’s smaller DHBs our people always have room to move and grow - you’ll get a wider exposure to specialties and enjoy the benefits of a flat structure: processes that run smoothly and a fun, friendly culture. With us, you’re more than just a number; you’re part of a team where everyone knows your name. You’ll be supported to thrive through our many professional development opportunities and have the chance to share your expertise as part of our graduate mentoring programme.

On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, that long-coveted work-life balance is truly achievable here.

At SCDHB, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities.
